Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL)

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) was carved out of Central Coalfields Limited to manage the Singrauli Coalfield, which spans Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. It is a major producer of non-coking coal, contributing around 15% of India’s total coal production. It operates 10 opencast mines and uses advanced technologies like surface miners and draglines. NCL plays a vital role in powering India’s energy sector, with about 88% of its coal dispatched to thermal power plants.
